Police in Bernards Township are investigating the death of a 61-year old man of Indian origin, pulled out of water Dec. 4. The death is still under investigation and an autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause according to news reports.

Kewal Krishan was staying with his family on Chaucer Court in Baskingville, N.J., and was reported missing by family members in the early evening of Dec. 3. He is reported to have gone for a walk earlier in the day and was not known to have any disabilities according to a press release sent to Desi Talk by the Bernard Township Police Department. The police told Desi Talk said they could not comment on the case or on whether there was any foul play involved.

Upon a call from the family, police searched the area using a blood hound canine from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office as well as an aviation unit from the New Jersey State Police.

Police also received a citizen’s call reporting seeing someone matching Krishan’s description walking on Martinsville Road based on a photo that police posted on their Facebook page. His body was found partially submerged in the Dead River in an area off Martinsville Road, and the time of death was estimated at around 11 pm, the release said.

A squad from the Liberty Corner Fire Company subsequently discovered Krishan’s body. Police are seeking information from anyone with any knowledge of the case.
