As part of the consular outreach activities, a consular camp in collaboration with Michigan Indian American Democratic Caucus was organized by the Consulate General of India, Chicago April 24 at Rochester High School in Rochester, Michigan.
The camp was led by O.P. Meena, Consul Passport & Community Affairs, and was supported by the office bearers of MIADC, Shama Kenkre, Arun Agarwal, Jaydeep Deolekar, Shyam Maheshwari, Krishna Sharma and Jagdeep Monga who made their facilities and services available under one roof so that patrons could receive on-site resolution of any consular related issues or questions.
Ramesh Verma, member and volunteer of MIADC worked closely with the consulate for organizing this Camp in an organized and expeditious manner. During camp, more than 500 consular services, including OCI, visa, renunciation and attestation were provided to residents of Rochester and surrounding areas on a single day with the help of dozens of volunteers. The outsourcing agency, CKGS, also actively participated in the Camp.
“Consular camp is an excellent program because it allows for constituents to resolve any issue because they provide direct access to officials who are able to resolve most issues on site and the community gets a better understanding of the consulate process and procedures, especially those who do not have access to an Indian consulate within their area,” the attendees said.
“The consulate will continue to strive to organize such consular camps periodically in different cities of the Midwest to provide consular services to the Community at their doorsteps”, Meena said.
