Columbia Conference to Discuss Opportunities and Challenges Facing India

The South Asia Business Association at Columbia Business School will host the 11th Annual India Business Conference April 4 at the Alfred Lerner Hall at Columbia University here. Every year, the conference brings together students, professionals, and members of the Indian diaspora in the United States to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing India. The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Rethinking India’.

This year’s conference includes keynote addresses by Suresh Prabhu, Railway Minister of India;  Dinesh Paliwal, CEO of Harman; Ramesh Tainwala, CEO of Samsonite, and renowned economist Prof. Jagdish Bhagwati. In addition, expert panels on manufacturing, healthcare and inclusive growth will feature senior executives from companies such as Dell, Acumen, and Pfizer and highlight key challenges and opportunities for India in each of these important areas for India’s development. The conference will also feature a special segment with Consul General of India in New York, Dnyaneshwar Mulay.

Over the last decade, the conference has drawn thousands of attendees, as well as several leaders and visionaries including Mastercard CEO Ajay Banga, former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, Deputy Chairperson of the Planning Commission Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Infosys Co-Founder and CEO S.D Shibulal, Nobel Laureate Dr. Joseph Stiglitz, and Standard & Poor’s President Deven Sharma.
