Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, walked the ramp at the New York Fashion Week alongside other models last week for the cause of ‘Educate Girl Child’ and promotion of Indian handlooms. A banker by profession, Fadnavis showcased the design talent of Pune-based Chasa Institute of Design and Technology students who belong mostly to poor families of farmers and porters. “I wore handloom attire designed by the talented students, who are the children of farmers and porters studying in the Pune based Institute,” Fadnavis wrote on her Facebook page. Fadnavis has earlier walked the ramp for designer Hemant Trivedi to support tribal art and handloom from Maharashtra. Photo above, Fadnavis, center with two other models, at the NYFW.
