Local businesses held their annual “India Fair” April 16-17, at the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center in Edison, attracting large crowds both days to savor Indian food, crafts and culture, and watch local performers in what organizers consider a part of the multicultural heritage of the state.

Organized by Business NJ LLC, a local portal to promote business, and managed by Royal Events and Entertainment, the fair attracted thousands of people over the two days, according to organizers.

“The event has grown into a Multi-National show and sponsors came from as far as Milan, Italy as well as visitors came in from Bermuda, North Carolina and all over USA,” a press release said. This year the biggest attractions were Bollywood actresses Elli Avram and Aditi Rao Hydari, both of whom entertained the audience with their popular movie songs.

Another attraction was the ‘Dazzling Dance Competition’ in minor, junior and senior categories, in which many leading schools of New Jersey participated, among them Arya International, Rhythm NJ, Vedic Vidyalaya, Nataraja Dance Studio, Nrityakala Dance Academy, and Shivalik Dance.

More than 700 performers from the tri-state area participated in the two-day cultural program coordinated by Arun Anand.

Indian clothes, jewelry, and cuisine sold well during the event. Several media outlets, banks, insurance companies, and hotels sponsored the fair this year, among them ZEE TV, Parikh Worldwide Media, Indian Express, Radio Zindagi, Anand Vihar, Aaj Tak, India Today, 8 K Miles Radio, Global Punjab; New York Life, TD Bank, Wells Fargo, Sistar Mortgage, Investors Bank, Mass Mutual; and Lyca Mobile and Radisson Hotel.
