The Wayne Hindu Temple of New Jersey celebrated the festival of color March 22 with Holi puja, Satyanarayan Katha , and singing of Bhajans and of Holi songs by members of the community.
The event organized by the India Cultural Society of Wayne was attended by over 500 devotees, committee members, volunteers. The temple was decorated with colors of HOLI. A special Holi deities’ platform was created by volunteers who had worked for the celebration for two weeks.
The devotees enjoyed the Holi Puja performed by priest Arvind Maheta.
The attendees took part in the celebration by sprinkling dry colors or gulals at one another wishing Happy Holi to all.
Jyotindra Patel, chairman of the cultural society, addressed the gathering, explaining the significance of the festival. After the devotional songs of Holi and aarti, all the devotees went outside the temple for ‘Holi Pragatya’.
