As the Donald J. Trump’s candidacy and campaign hurtles from one controversy to another, it is not surprising that the Republican front runner in the primary is losing some old supporters even as he is rallying new supporters.

One supporter he lost this week is a prominent Indian-American and publisher of Desi Talk Dr. Sudhir M. Parikh who issued a statement saying he is disassociating with the recently formed group ‘Indian Americans for Trump 2016.’

In a brief statement sent to media outlets, Dr. Parikh said that many members of the group are his personal friends and (hence) “allowed himself to be identified with that group.”

“I wish to clarify that I no longer belong to the group and I do not support the candidacy of Mr. Donald Trump,” the terse statement added, without getting into specifics as to why he decided on this course.

Speaking to Desi Talk, Dr. Parikh said that “for over three decades I have supported both Democrat and Republican candidates based on their individual merits and their commitment to the interests of the Indian-American community and U.S.-India relations. I remain committed to this course.”
