The Association of South Asian Real Estate Professionals organized its inaugural gala at Cascade Banquet Hall Jan. 29, marking the beginning of a new era in community outreach for real estate professionals.
ASARP is organized as a non-for profit, which reaffirms the commitment to provide leadership to the South Asian community and achieve property ownership in the United States and internationally.
Pradeep B Shukla was appointed President and Kanti N Patel as Vice President including the following Directors T. Paul Chawala, Al-Haroon Hussain, Babubhai Patel, Marsha Collins, Swati Saxena, Suchi Bhagat, Vickey Sampa, Vikram Sarda, Bimal Pandhi, Raj Patel and Nat Zala. Tom Krettler, past president of National Association of Realtors, who administered the oath of office to the new appointees.
Their primary objectives are: educating real estate professionals in their respective communities; providing outreach to the community and enriching their real estate experience; serving as a liaison with local, state and national associations; acting as a political arm for South Asian professionals; and providing service tools to US investors for making smart investment decisions in South Asian markets.
Among the notable attendees were Iftekar Shariff, and Tonya Corder, Director of NAR and past president of Main Street Organization of Realtors.
Kanti Patel welcomed and introduced the guests. He invited them to join this crusade for greater education, outreach and effective liaison.
Harsha Shukla gave the promotional speech explaining the need of a separate association for the South Asian community, stating that, “India is large and a third of the size of USA and by population. It is the 3rd largest in purchasing power and with its rapidly developing middle class, non-immigrant Indians are also in a good position to invest in the United States.”
She highlighted that the median price of property purchased is close to $350,000 and that Indians mostly purchase single family homes and there are many who are also commercial investors, and due to the differences in language, cultural, religious, social traits the demand for the South Asian community is perceived and satisfied in a vastly different way.
Pradeep B Shukla, president, explained that a two-way bridge has to be built – U.S. real estate professionals are to be informed about the special need of this community, emanating from different languages, religions and social traits, and then these communities are to be effectively educated and represented in the matter of real estate transactions, by proper education and communication.
He highlighted that the world’s costliest individual home of about $ 1 billion is owned by an Indian, none other than Mukesh Ambani, and also Chicago’s costliest penthouse in Trump Tower is also bought by an Indian, Jatin Shah.
Shukla inspired the professionals to work as a team towards common vision of ASARP and hoped that the most uncommon results are at the horizon.
