A group of Indian-Americans which believes New York billionaire Donald Trump is the answer to America’s perceived ills, both domestic and international, has formed an organization to support his presidential campaign to win the Republican Party nomination.

Under the banner ‘Indian-Americans for Trump 2016’ some Republicans from New York and New Jersey, registered a political action committee Jan. 21, to muster funds and advocate for GOP support for the controversial Republican frontrunner to become the next President of the United States.

Among the numerous candidates in the field including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Senator Ted Cruz, cardiologist Ben Carson, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, this group of Indian-Americans believes Trump has his finger on the pulse of the American people and a proven record that makes him the best one to lead the country.

A business professor at Seton Hall University, New Jersey, A. D. Amar, is president of the new PAC; New York attorney Anand Ahuja is vice president; Devendra “Dave” Makkar, a business owner and community activist in Springfield, N.J., is the treasurer. Dr. Sudhir Parikh of Watchung, N.J., publisher of News India Times and recipient of India’s Padma Shri award, has been appointed the chair of the Fundraising and Advisory Committees.

Amar, who attempted a run for the U.S. Congress from New Jersey’s District 7 in 2008, told News India Times Trump’s agenda mirrored his, and that it did not bother him that the billionaire had been close to Democrats in the past. “He is like Reagan and is attracting Democrats like no one else,” Amar said.

Trump has proclaimed he does not take money from PACs. Amar said the new PAC was established to raise funds to carry out a grassroots campaign. “We will be building chapters around the country starting with Washington, D.C., California, and New York City, to get support from Americans, particularly Indian-Americans.”

What attracts Amar and the other founders of the PAC to Trump is his policies and pronouncements on illegal immigration and the economy. “In my 44 years in America, amnesty has been given to illegals two or three times, and yet the number is growing,” Amar said. “Trump is right when he says ‘You go back, apply, and we will process you” and that is the right way.”

“Trump has a history of delivering, despite some of his unique approaches to issues. And it is time for America to be the great country it was meant to be internationally and nationally,” under a Trump leadership, Parikh told News India Times. “Donald Trump started his business in New York in 1977. He has proved he can do business with every one of the mayors and flourished – from Ed Koch, David Dinkin, Rudy Juliani, to Michael Bloomberg.

That proves he has the ability to negotiate and is a doer and that is a great quality for a leader of a super power,” Parikh said. “And we should take the chance and see.”

When he arrived 44 years ago, Amar said, America was on top of the world, “In every aspect, education, life expectancy, lifestyle.” Since then he has seen a “steady decline.” Amar said his research showed the main problem was rising imports from countries like China for goods that could be produced in America and he supported Trump’s stand against China. “If we infuse the $500 billion deficit with China, into our economy, we can improve our economy,” Amar contended.
