The ongoing “hateful statements” against Muslims from Republican presidential Donald Trump have come under fire from Muslim Peace Coalition of U.S.A., the first national group comprising Muslim-Americans in 15 states, including in New York, and have members originating from South Asia as well as other regions and countries of the world.

The group, in the wake of Trump’s continuation of anti-Muslim assertions, has announced that it will take measures “to counter the damage” to the American social fabric by Trump and his campaign by their bigotry and for endangering the lives of Muslims and Brown immigrants in the U.S. and of Americans abroad. It has condemned the damage done to the U.S. image and to the U.S. business, educational and healthcare institutions by the extreme wing of the Republican Party.

MPC has declared that it is willing to take “practical measures” to counter the damage by helping U.S. institutions protect their immigrant and Muslim members and by repairing the damage to the U.S. image in the Muslim World. It said that American Muslims can and will act as a bridge between the Muslim world and the U.S. and will “fight the attempts by ISIS and the extreme right wing of the Republican Party” to start a clash of civilizations.

It is offering to help the U.S. universities, hospitals, colleges, multi-national corporations and other institutions protect their employees and students as well as their business interests.

The coalition is suggesting panel discussions, workshops and symposiums at the U.S. institutions to address their fears and to comfort the Muslim employees, to educate the non-Muslim employees and managers who might be swayed by the Islamophobic propaganda and to address the non-Muslim H1 workers and immigrant employees who might feel targeted because they might be mistaken for being from Muslim countries because of appearance or skin color.

“Sharing the lessons from the intrAfaith struggle against extremism, representatives from the Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism came together to share the struggle these faith-traditions are going through to combat extremism. They all also condemned the attack on Islam and Muslims by the politicians for immoral, unethical, short-sighted selfish reasons. Muslim Peace Coalition,,” Dr. Shaik Ubaid, co-chair of the New York chapter of the coalition and a native of India, said. He said New York is offering to help organize similar programs for institutions that might be interested in it.

The organization said in a press statement that the whole world is repulsed by Donald Trump’s racist demagoguery. “Such hate rhetoric will also drive the international students away causing great harm to our universities. Many non-Muslim immigrant workers and students will feel threatened because of their skin color,” Ubaid, a New York neurologist, said.
