Sarfaraz Khan, son of veteran Bollywood actor Kader Khan and an actor in his own right, will perform along with singer Bappi Lahiri at India’s Independence Day Festival at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg Aug. 16.
Sarfaraz has acted in or produced several movies, serials, plays, and shows including Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, Tere Naam, Bazaar, Vaada, Wanted and Kissan, among others. “I am exceedingly happy that a decade ago my father attended the Independence Day festivity, and this year, I will have the honor to represent Mother India in Chicago,” said Sarfaraz Khan. Onkar Singh Sangha, FIA president, and Moon Khan, FIA vice president, met with the actor recently and explained to him the logistics of the event.
Sunil Shah, FIA founder president hoped the Indian that the Indian American community will throng the stadium in thousands to witness the spectacular programs.
“We are getting overwhelming response from the community,” said Neil Khot, another vice president.
Not only Bappi Lahiri and his troupe members will perform, but several local prominent local artists are also lined up for presentation, said Payal Shah, FIA vice president and coordinator of the cultural program.
For kids, special rides and several fun activities have also been arranged. “This is the best show in town, don’t go anywhere; come to Schaumburg,” FIA vice president Mukesh Shah urged the community members.
Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti will lead the lineup of dozens of confirmed elected officials Aug. 16. The event will start at 2 P.M. and will end with the fireworks amid loud recital of A.R. Rahman’s famous version of “Vande Matram”
