Wedding planner, decorator and caterer Jyoti Soni has partnered with Vijay Rana of The Excelsior, a banquet hall in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, to cater to the growing Indian-American population in the tristate area. Soni held a gala at the banquet hall to announce her partnership, where prominent members of the community were recognized.
Those recognized at the event were Dr. Sudhir Parikh, publisher of News India Times and recipient of India’s Padma Shri award, Dr. Navin Mehta, H.R. Shah, chairman, TV Asia, Anil Bansal, founder of the Indus American Bank, restaurateur Sneh Mehta of Moghul restaurants, among others.
The event was decorated by Ravi Verma ( Mandap Design ), Harry Pandya was the official photographer ( Events Capture ) and DJ Jay of Raaz Entertainment, provided the light and sound for the evening
Soni began her career in the U.S. as a textile designer, after which she switched careers for a job in the real state. She again moved jobs and careers and took up a position as a banquet director for a newly opened venue.
She learnt the ropes of the trade at the job and eventually launched her wedding planning business – Celebrations With Jyoti Soni. Along with several weddings she helped planned and workshops she conducted in India, Soni says she organized Diwali celebrations at the White House under former president George W. Bush.
She also dabbed with a career in journalism and done both print and television stints. Soni says she also built wedding mandaps and opened a decorating company in Florida. She also opened a restaurant, eventually selling it and launching a catering company – Flavors By Jyoti Soni.
