President Obama announced Sept. 9 that he plans to appoint an Indian-American on the board of one of the biggest scholarship program in the country.
A release from the White House said the President will appoint Maneesh K. Goyal as a member of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Goyal is Founder and President of MKG, an event marketing agency with headquarters in New York City since 2001. Today, the company has offices in Los Angeles and Chicago as well. The company website says “The MANeesh” “is like a blender. He mixes all of his professional and personal passions together, throws in some ice, and combines into one delicious cocktail.”
In a Jan. 24, 2013 article, AdWeek magazine described MKG as “The digital agency (that) knows how to use social media to give brands that patina of cool.” Goyal’s clients include Delta Airlines, Evian, Chase Bank, and Levis among many other big names. In 2013, Crain’s New York listed MKG among its “Fast 50” – companies that have found “unique methods for powering phenomenal growth.”
Last year, Goyal co-founded Live in the Grey, a resource and consultancy focused on workplace culture. From 1999 to 2001, he was a program officer at the Dyson Foundation, where he built a national program to train pediatricians. He serves on the U.S. Advisory Council for the American India Foundation. He previously served on the Boards of the Empire State Pride Agenda, LifeBeat, the South Asian American Forum, and the Stonewall Community Foundation. Goyal did his B.A. from Duke University and his Masters in Public Health from Yale University.
