“The Art of Empowerment – a Cross-Cultural Women’s Conference,” hosted by EQuest Global Group, Inc., and Latinas On The Plaza drew a full house here at The Meadows Club, April 9. The full-day event aimed to empower women to become successful leaders at work, home and in their communities.

Her workshop focused on identifying and expressing your genius, networking, learning from youth and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Kathleen Caldwell, a popular health coach and founder of Caldwell Consulting Group and WHEE Institute, conducted an after-lunch health and wellness session and energizing Zumba workout, offering tips on nutrition and how to use the power of the female mind to stay empowered.
Mindfulness Instructor and EQuest President, Shebani Kulkarni led an exercise on mindfulness, a major theme throughout the evening, and spoke of how modern thought leaders integrate it into their lives and institutions with powerful results. Kulkarni is Executive Vice President of The Meadows Club.
President of LNC Coaching and of Latinas On The Plaza, Luz Canino-Baker, who is adjunct professor at four universities, capped off the speaker sessions with her talk on “Emotional Self-Awareness” as the ability to recognize one’s feelings and also be clear about strengths, limitations and preferences, to be received as a grounded and transparent communicator.
The conference ended with separate simultaneous round table discussions, facilitated by Dr. Sakira Jackson, on cross-cultural challenges and best practices at work and elsewhere. They were led by 14 influential women, who are successful entrepreneurs or leaders from Fortune 500 Companies like Deloitte, New York Life and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
The closing cocktail reception allowed the women to network and shop for a cause at vendor booths. Raffle prizes and the silent auction raised money for scholarships. Training programs and Mastermind Groups were created to keep these cross-cultural women empowered throughout the year. Comcast, Hoffman Estates Community Bank, HispanicPro, Reflejos Bilingual Newspaper, Negocios, Now and New York Life were the main sponsors.
