Scarsdale, New York resident, Shreya Mehta, left, presents her painting titled “The Sweeper” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with her husband Amish Mehta, during her recent visit to India. Shreya Mehta, who grew up in Belgium, was invited by Modi after she wrote him a letter detailing why she would like to present the painting to him. She immediately received a call from the prime minister’s office and soon travelled to Delhi to meet Modi. She donates 100 percent of net proceeds from the sale of her artworks to charity. Shreya Mehta also held a solo art exhibition at the Indian Consulate of New York where she represented Gujarat during the consulate’s State by State Initiative.
