G30 For India Vision Foundation – USA hosted its Grand Gala Night March 15 at the Richi Rich Palace in Richmond Hill, New York, with Kiran Bedi, founder of the India Vision Foundation as a guest of honor. The foundation was established in 1994 out of the Ramon Magsaysay Award that was conferred on Bedi for her reforms in the Tihar jail during her tenure as there. The foundation focuses on educating children of prisoners to save them from being the next victims. At the gala, the foundation adopted 67 more children, committing to educate them and making them self-reliant.
Among attendees at the gala were Swami Chamunda, H.K. Shah, chairman and founder of Vegetarian Vision, and New York Congresswoman Grace Meng.
In her address, Bedi reminded the audience the importance of lessening the gap between the haves and the have nots. “We must stay connected and keep a watch on what is happening around us, which will empower us with greater responsibility for a better world,” she said.
Urging the audience to donate of a good cause, Eric Kumar, co-founder and co-chair of G30 said G30 for India Vision Foundation provides an overseas platform and opportunity to connect generous hearts and donors with these needy children,
The evening began with an inspirational message and lamp lighting by Swami Chamunda, followed by devotional song by Pooja Kakkar, a youth volunteer. The event continued with presentations and videos, as Monica Dhawan, director of India Vision Foundation educated the audience on their various projects and activities. The evening concluded with performances by Jashan Dance group and Arya Dance Academy and music by DJ Monu Singh.
